SecretBuilders Summer Program 2012

Founded by MIT Graduates, SecretBuilders is a social game for children where they interact with historical figures, go on quests, nurture pets and interact with their friends.

At SecretBuilders we believe that it is never too early to encourage a children’s creativity and to expose them to the Arts, Sciences and Humanities.

In order to extend our mission of promoting learning and creativity to high school and college students, SecretBuilders has set up a free summer program with a series of structured seminars, hands on work and first-hand exposure to business and entrepreneurship:

Be a Part of Something Special

  • Get first-hand exposure to Content Creation, Software Testing, Community Management and Web Marketing
  • Learn about casual games, virtual worlds and social networks
  • Learn about entrepreneurship and the startup experience
  • Gain real world know-how and experience for college and beyond


Several openings are available across the following three tracks for the Summer Program 2012:

1. Content Creation

Create super cool online content for quests, characters and other creative content for SecretBuilders. This position gives you valuable experience in researching, writing and editing creative content.

Eligibility: Must be high school or college student. Candidates must have experience writing and be interested in literature, humanities and creative writing for children. Familiarity with Microsoft Office is required.

2. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Learn how to setup, manage and create content for search engine optimization (SEO) websites. This position gives you valuable experience in how to market a website, build traffic and create relevant content.

Eligibility: Must be high school or college student. Candidates must have experience writing and be interested in marketing and website development. Familiarity with Microsoft Office is required. Familiarity with web design and graphic design is a plus.

3. Game Testing and Community Management

Test and evaluate game quality and mechanics and learn how to do quality assurance (QA) testing, moderation and management of live virtual events (talk shows, parties and giveaways). The position gives you valuable hands-on technology experience in game testing and how to manage online communities.

Eligibility: Must be high school or college student. Candidates must have experience writing and be interested in online games. Familiarity with Microsoft Office is required. Familiarity with web design and graphic design is a plus.


Time Commitment Requirements

  • Duration: 10 weeks
  • Program Dates: June 15 to August 24, 2012
  • Required Commitment: Expected to work 15 to 20 hours/week, mostly from home
  • On-site Training: Required to attend weekly meetings on Fridays from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
